Transportation tidbits
- If this is a capitalistic economy, shouldn't road users and developers be paying for what they use and cause?
- Why should people who have lived in their neighborhood a long time have to contribute to new schools for far-away developments?
Especially when schools in nearby districts don't have enough students to keep schools open.
- Should people in low-density areas be paying the same price for services, even though they can cost more to serve as a result of being spread out?
- Why should businesses be required to provide a certain amount of parking?
Shouldn't the business and the marketplace decide what amount of parking to provide?
- Why should sewer ratepayers have to pay $1 billion for the Big Pipe project when its been said that 40+% of storm water comes from roads?
- Why should much of the transportation funding have to go through the Federal government and back? And that's happened much more for road projects than transit ones.
- Why should transit riders be assigned the entire trip cost and not just the potion (seats) they use? Its not their fault that others don't ride.
- Shouldn't discounts given to youth and the elderly be counted as person subsidies and not transit subsidies? After all, it doesn't cost less to transport them.
